Seeing as DRS saved both 37402/405 for reuse, it was known three 37's, would eventually be deemed not suitable for return out of the orginal 13 37/4's DRS bought.

C.F.Booths, of Rotherham, purchased 37416, 37417 and 37427 directly off DRS, for scrap. and for now the locomotives have all arrived at Rotherham Yard from Carlisle Kingmoor, visually some tattier than others, their first weekend at Booths, and, while there is always the outside chance of re-use. Its likely that at least two, if not all, will be stripped over the next week or so then cut up. For now though at the time of typing untouched in the 'storage sidings'

So Royal Scotsman liveried 37416 joins EWS liveried 37417 and 37427, 37428 which is the other surviving Royal Scotsman liveried 37 and POLICE 47829, eeking out time.

Not so lucky are former HNRC 37428, with stripping underway but not advanced, and former HNRC 47829, in POLICE livery, heavily stripped and partly cut, awaits final parts removal before being dispatched to the main cutting area.

Sad really. Of these 37417 and 37416 saw the most recent use befor being stored. 37416 stored at Motherwell then transfer to Toton and Eastleigh, no doubt missing a few bits along the way. 37417 suffered an engine flash over and was stored at Eastleigh. 37427 stored with high engine hours at Motherwell, however the open storage did not do her well and again a few parts pinched.

37428 was stored originally at Cardiff Canton with high engine hours, before transfer to Margam. The locomotibve suffered minor vandalism, and was sold by DBS to C.F.Booths, only for HNRC to save it and 37415, months on and while 37415 for now is safe, 37428, despite being offerd for sale, eventually was sold, for scrap again, so back to Rotherham. 47829 suffered engine failure hence its withdrawal, interest from DRS was brief, mainly for parts, and HNRC thn bought it, and was in store ever since.

Of all these three strangely all three were the less common ones for me to photograph in use, once each. 37416 in happier days at London Blackfriars on a charter, 37427 at Clapham Junction on a charter, and 37417 at Cardiff on a passenger working.
