Alizay, for a depot in France, strangely familiar traction. I didn't view inside, but on this occasion ECR 66228 was present outside the shed, as were no less than 23 class 58 locomotives. So very much a case of the Brits away from home.
The class 58's are all in either TSO or ETF livery, a few minor livery variations on a few of them as well.
The 58's being;
50001/004/005/006/007/009/010/011/013/018/
021/026/032/033/034/035/036/038/039/040/
042/046/049.
Thankfully the weather was kind as well. The 58's generally would appear to be in good condition, and at some point it will be nice to see them in use again, weather they return to the UK though is another story.
Just 58044 missing, at the time of typing, having not got far from finishing the French contract is to be found in a yard Woippy, near Metz. Weather I'll get the change to detour to find this one come September who knows, it could well be roaded to Alizay or skated over. The locomotive having suffered from braking issues and a case of 'square wheels' hence two years awaiting collection.
Many thanks to the individual(s) who helped with this visit.
PLEASE note the site is not accessible at weekends and turn up visits are a gamble to take.
